I have never looked at this story of the blind man in quite this way before. Looking at how his worship of Jesus came out of his encounter with Truth Himself and his belief in Him.
How many times do we think we have to rely on a certain kind of music, worship style, atmosphere, etc. to "draw" us into worship. When in reality, worship is something that should be a direct result of our encounter with Truth (Jesus and His Word) and our belief and trust in Him.
This was eye opening to me. As I look back and think on the times when I feel drawn to worship Jesus, it was because of hearing the Truth in God's Word and my increased faith and trust in Him as a result.
We try so hard in today's church it seems, to manufacture worship, when what we really need to be doing is preaching the Word and pointing people to Jesus. That is the ONLY way that we will truly be drawn to worship. It seems like the manufactured worship in our churches today appeals to our flesh and is not focused on Jesus.
So I am challenging myself and you as well -- to get into God's Word more, to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us more about Jesus through His Word, so that we are more often drawn to worship Jesus because our faith and trust in Him is increasing.
I don't want a manufactured worship that relies on external things -- I want a worship that is a result of my faith and trust in Jesus alone!
