Intentional Inspirations Newsletter - 8/15/20

Hello!

No, it isn't Saturday, and yes I am late :). I usually sit down on Fridays and type out my newsletters, but my Friday got busy and I just didn't get to it. Then the weekend came and to be honest, I was just needing a bit of a break. But I wanted to touch base this morning about a few things and share a post I wrote this week on social media. I pray that it encourages and challenges you this morning!

This morning as I started my day, I had a song going through my mind. The words of a hymn..."My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand."

Then these verses speaking about how God is my refuge, my Rock...

Psalm 62: 7-8

7 On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

8 Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us.

We are living in a time when everything around us seems like it is on sinking sand. Sometimes WE feel like we are in sinking sand! But God reminds us again and again in the Bible that He is our Rock, our Refuge, our Shelter in the storm.

He is our anchor that holds us fast, keeps us safe in His arms. It is tempting to look around, listen to the news, dive into the corruption and evil going on, and lose sight of the One who we should wholly be leaning on -- Jesus!

I have to admit, there have been times during these past months that I have become overwhelmed with the darkness around me. But God has shown me that He uses these times in my life to draw me closer to Him, to help me to learn to depend on Him more,and to look to Him for comfort, strength, and direction.

Our world is a mess and it needs Jesus - it needs the saving Gospel message to be proclaimed and lived out by the Church. God calls believers to put on the armor daily (Galatians 6), but how many times I fail to do that. It's no wonder I get overwhelmed because I have left areas of my life unprotected. How can I be effective for Him if I am not protected as I go out into battle?

Many are going through really hard times right now. But I guess the reason why I wanted to post this this morning is that I want to encourage you. No matter what you are going through right now, make sure that your hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness.

If you don't know what that means, please message me. I'd be glad to talk with you about how you can have this hope too. We are living in perilous times, and we need to make sure our hope is built on the only thing that will never fail us -- on Jesus alone.

Jesus is our Rock -- not a political party, not our President, not our health agencies or doctors, not our government, not our Pastor, not our friends, not our own good works. Jesus is the only One who never changes, the only One our hope and our lives should be built on.

My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less

Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;

But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;

Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
