Intentional Inspirations Newsletter - 11/3/23
Over the past month, I have been studying through 2 Timothy with some other ladies online. There is so much in these chapters that I can apply to my life today. I love the above verse because it reminds me that we need to be sharing the Gospel at all times, and that the Gospel, God’s Word, is not only good for encouraging us, but also for correcting us, and rebuking us. Ouch. I am so thankful for the Bible, though, as it is God’s Word to us. It is truly my life instruction book!
It seems like my life has been so busy lately that when I do have time to sit down and type up a newsletter, I don’t take the time to share more personally. So today I thought I’d give you an update on what has been going on in my life lately.
We started our homeschool year back up in August and that has been going pretty good. I only have two children left that I am homeschooling. It’s hard to believe that after 25 years, my homeschooling years are coming to an end.
My daughter played homeschool volleyball this year and had so much fun. She has never played on a team before but did so well and continued to improve as the season went along. Now volleyball is over and basketball has started. My youngest son and daughter are playing again this year, so we will be busy running to practices and games over the next few months. Fun!
As my role changes with my older children, it has been a challenge at times to know how to encourage them, guide them, support them, and just love them right where they are at. They are all at different stages and facing different issues in life, and while it is challenging, it is a blessing that I get to be a part of their lives as they grow older.
Now to get personal, about 10 years ago I changed my eating (went on Trim Healthy Mama) and lost 30 pounds. I got back down to the weight that I was in college and it felt so good. Well, since then my body has gone through menopause, my metabolism slowed down to a crawl, and the weight has slowly crept back on. Now I am at my heaviest weight ever. Ugh. This getting older is no fun sometimes!
But I am to the point now where I know that I need to make my health a priority and figure out what I need to change to get back on a better path. Some of what I have been focusing on is moving more and exercising, trying to stay away from the sweets or using healthier ingredients in homemade treats, fixing healthier meals with more veggies, and making sure I am taking my herbal supplements/vitamins. I am also focusing on gut health by continuing to make milk kefir to drink. I am also considering trying again to make sourdough bread that is easier on the digestion and blood sugar. We’ll see on that!
With all that aside, I know that the most important thing I can focus on is my relationship with Jesus. The group that I am a part of online that has been studying through the Bible together, is going to be tackling Revelation next year. Here is the page about this year’s studies, but be sure to subscribe to Leslie’s newsletter or follow her on Facebook to follow when the Revelation study will begin. In light of everything going on in our world, I can think of no better way to spend my time than in God’s Word!
