Intentional Inspirations Newsletter - 8/4/23
The past few weeks have been crazy busy and part of that time our family was out of the state for a family vacation. We had such a good time as a family!
We got an air-bnb house so we could spread out and have space to enjoy family time. One thing we really enjoyed was playing games together.
We also took in a couple of baseball games. This is in Davenport, IA where a Kansas City Royals minor league team plays. They won both games and my husband got a homerun ball that went over the fence in the outfield. He and some of the kids just happened to be walking around the ballpark and were in the right spot near the outfield to get the ball when it was hit. He was SO excited.
Of course go-carts have been a constant in about every family vacation. The kids love doing them and so we always find a place when we are on vacation.
We also enjoyed going miniature golfing (except it was really hot), visiting a botanical gardens (that is where I took all the pictures of flowers in the first image above), buying some locally made chocolates from a chocolate shop (yum!), and much more.
It was a GREAT week and a much needed time away as a family. Now we are getting back into a regular schedule, my daughter is starting homeschool volleyball, and homeschool will be starting before we know it. Time to get ready!
I pray each of you have had a great summer. It has gone fast for us (always does), but it was a good summer. Now I look forward to the fall, cooler weather (please!), and all the activities that will come with homeschool starting.
Enjoy the fun links below. There is a lot to go through! I am especially excited about the first item below. I’d love to know your thoughts on that! Happy reading!
I can’t say enough how much I am enjoying using Workflowy for my all-in-one calendar and content space. I keep track of my calendar, my daily schedule, menu planning, journaling, homeschooling, projects, and so much more!
I love it so much that I want to share a sample of a project I am considering working on — putting some of my books into Workflowy. I’m thinking that I would group them together by types of books. For example, I would put my cookbooks into one group, history read-aloud books into another group, science read-aloud books into another group, etc. Then I would sell access to these different “groups” of books (at a very reasonable price) and you could then add them to your Workflowy account.
Once they are in your Workflowy account, you can then “mirror” them to specific areas in Workflowy. For example, let’s say I found a recipe I want to try — I go to the recipe in one of my cookbooks, “mirror” that recipe, and paste it into my menu planning area. If you are familiar with Workflowy, then you know how fun this will be! Workflowy can be accessed on desktop or mobile via the web or an app, so you’ll be able to access it anywhere you go!
Click here to see the sample content I put together. Once you pull it up, you will see a button you can click to add it to your Workflowy account. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up for free here!
I’d love to hear your thoughts — is this something that you would use? If so, are you interested more in the recipes/cookbooks or read-aloud books? Let me know! I don’t want to spend time on this project if it isn’t something that people will use. But I see this as something that I would add more content to as the days go by, and once you buy access to a specific group of content, you will get anything new I add to that group! Comment or email me and let me know!
This week I came across this amazing tool if you want to put together a specialized Bible reading plan. You can set what you want to read, the length of time, etc., and it will generate a reading plan. Love this! Go check it out here!
I have posted about my LOVE for the Daily Grace Bible studies…well, they are coming out with a brand new study called “Worthy: Embracing Your Identity in Christ” and it looks amazing! I was able to get an advanced copy to review and I love what I see. The study lasts for 4 weeks and has a short lesson for 5 days a week. There are Bible verses to read, a devotional page or two covering the topic for that day, then some questions to answer. Also included is scripture memory! This study is not out yet, but you can sign up to be notified when it is available. Just go here to see more details! While you are on their site, take a look around as they are having a HUGE sale right now — 30%-80% off!
UPDATE!! Videos through Lesson 8 has been added to this post!

The Digital Learning Time Treasury is a free resource I put together several years ago. It has a ton of resources for learning that are found free online. Many are youtube videos I found and wanted to share. Please note that with Youtube, videos are constantly being taken down for one reason or another. I have not had a chance to go through and update this resource, but feel free to browse and enjoy what is there!
