Intentional Inspirations Newsletter - 9/2/22
Howdy! Hope you all had a great week. You know, the older I get the more I am learning that no matter what is going on around us, no matter what crazy things our leaders are doing, no matter how much corruption and fraud there is, that NONE of that, NONE, can separate us from the love of God. I know that I am a child of God, that my sins have been forgiven, that God is preparing a place for me in Heaven where I will enjoy eternity with Jesus, and I don’t have to fear anything in this world taking that away from me. Isn’t that amazing? God is so good in that He loves, cares, and forgives a sinner like me!
We are two weeks into our homeschool year. So far it is going pretty good actually. That is a HUGE praise! There have been some years where I got through the first couple days and I was struggling with something — either the curriculum wasn’t a good fit, the kids were dealing with attitude issues, or something else. But so far so good this year! Yeah!
I am ready for the weather to turn cooler so I can open the windows, watch the leaves fall, and sit out on our porch without cooking or being eaten by mosquitoes! I love fall and look forward to all that it holds for our family. Homeschool basketball will start in another month or so. We will have three kids playing this year, which will add more fun and craziness to our year. But these years go by so quickly, and I am learning that it is important to enjoy them and fill them with things that bring joy to our kids and to us.
Well, I better close and get this posted. I have some yummy fall recipes to share, books I finished recently, some fun freebies for your kids and more. Enjoy!
I added a post to my Substack this week but did not send out an email notification because it was an “out of my normal” post and it may not interest everyone. But for those that may be interested, here is the link so you can go read it. This is specifically about Kansas, but unfortunately the same issues are happening in states all across the U.S.
A friend of mine posted about this company, Alabastor Co., recently and so I looked into it a little. She had lots of high praise for these Bibles and shared that the artwork really helped her to read the Bible without feeling overwhelmed with all the text on the page. She said she would read and read, and not realize how much she was reading, reading through a whole book of the Bible in one sitting sometimes.
I have not ordered one of these to look at it in person, but I kind of like the idea. My only condition is that the actually text of the Bible be a good accurate translation. They are working on offering some different translations, so that is probably something that will expand as time goes by.
But I liked this enough to share it and let you research and see for yourself whether this is something you want to buy.
Ok. It’s September now, and I am so ready for fall! Here is a yummy fall recipe for you — Applesauce Nut Muffins. I love making muffins because they freeze well. When I make them, I make a big batch and put the extras in the freezer for future breakfasts or snacks for the kids.
Here is another yummy recipe for you — Pumpkin Spice Cake! This is so good and moist and makes a great treat to fix once the weather starts to cool a bit (which I hope is soon here in Kansas).
Have you heard of the Liberty’s Kids video series? My kids LOVED these when they were younger and learned so much watching them through in order from beginning to end. Guess what? You can watch them all for FREE! Go to this post and let your kids enjoy these well done videos on U.S. History!
How about some free science videos for the kids! The Moody Science videos are SO good and end with a Biblical application. This post has all of the videos embedded so you can have them all in one place.

Our small Bible study group just finished up working through this book this summer. It was so good and challenging. I am so much a “to do list” and “people pleaser” type of person, that I realized how I was making these things idols in my life. I am better understanding the Gospel, what Jesus has done for me, and wow, is it freeing!
Since I am mentioning books that I just finished, we read the last chapter of this Gladys Aylward book this week. I love doing read-aloud time with the kids, no matter how old they get, and the Christian Heroes Then & Now books have been a staple in our home. They are SO good! This is a 5-book set, but you can buy each book individually too. I can’t recommend these books enough. They are well worth buying to add to your home library.

ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT MEDICAL FREEDOM? Our freedoms are being threatened all across this country and across the whole world. Vaccine mandate laws are being pushed through that take away the rights of parents to choose the health care of their children. If you want to research this issue, I encourage you to check out this resource page. I also want to offer you this Vaccine Hesitancy Review document (PDF file) that does a good job of summarizing the issues: Vaccine Hesitancy Review.pdf
