Intentional Inspirations Newsletter - 9/16/22

I love Romans 12. They are words that I need to hear on a continual basis. Below I share about a Romans study I ordered and I can’t wait to start working my way through it. In a world that seems to be rejecting God at every turn, I want to live a life that is an offering to Him, and one that is pleasing to Him.

To be honest, it has been a hard week. A dear friend delivered a beautiful, full-term, baby girl last weekend, but something was wrong with her lungs and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. Another acquaintance lost her husband to a sudden massive heart attack. So much heartache and suffering. But through it all, I know that God is still in control. He is faithful and will give us the strength to get through the hard stuff we have to deal with here on earth. I am so thankful that I have hope in Jesus Christ, that this life on earth is but a glimpse of the eternal life I will enjoy in Heaven.

Last weekend I got more stuff fermenting — 2 jars of pickles and 2 jars of sauerkraut. The pickles have a few more days before they are ready, and the sauerkraut has another couple weeks at least. I’m ready for the pickles to be done because my last jar is about gone! If you want to see the recipes I used, look back at last week’s newsletter.

Erwin Lutzer has become one of my favorite authors recently. I bought his newest book this week, No Reason to Hide: Standing for Christ in a Collapsing Culture, and wow. It is so good. I can’t recommend it enough. I love the above quote from the book, because I feel that so many even within the “church” have this wrong — interpreting Scripture through the lens of culture, instead of interpreting culture through the lens of Scripture. This is a good one — grab it if you can!
