The above verse is a call for each one of us to NOT forget God’s Word! We are living in a day when churches and even whole denominations are moving away from the Truth in God’s Word and relying on “experiences” instead. It breaks my heart. God has given us His Holy Word, the Bible, to guide us in how to live rightly before Him. Now, to stand on the Truth in God’s Word brings ridicule not only from the world, but also from some in the “church”. How can this be?
But then I am reminded that God said in His Word that it would be like this. That the way is narrow and few are that find it. So I rest in His promises, put my full trust in Him, and have faith that He is who He said he is, and that His Word is true! What a blessing it is to have the unchanging Word of God!
We are beginning to wind down our homeschool for the year. We have a couple weeks left before my middle son graduates, then we will finish up a few more lessons in our history reading before we dive into our summer read-aloud (see below!).
This weekend my oldest daughter and I plan to get some annuals planted in pots for the flowerbeds and to put on our front steps. Can’t wait! Oh…we saw a couple of orioles at our feeder so we put out some grape jelly for them. We love watching the birds at our feeders year round! They are a constant reminder of God’s care for us!
Well, I better close and get this posted! Have a blessed week!
If you or someone you know have a child that is non-verbal, you HAVE to take time to watch this movie. Tune in today (Friday, 5/5/23) at 4PM Central Time (2PM PT / 5PM ET) for a special LIVE screening of the award-winning documentary ‘Spellers!’ The film will be followed by a special Q&A with the cast, from The HighWire Studio, before a live studio audience. They will be taking questions from both the live and online audience. If you can’t make it for the live screening, the replay will be available through the end of the day Monday! Go here to watch the free screening!
This is the book that I will be reading aloud to the kids this summer — The Watchmaker’s Daughter. I love the story of Corrie ten Boom and I can’t wait to read this first major biography telling her story. We just finished up reading about WWII in our history lessons, so this will be a great way to extend that learning over the summer. Can’t wait!

I can’t remember if I shared about this tool before, so I thought I would do so now. The end of last year, there was an issue that I had been wanting to resolve — using Evernote. I had used Evernote for years and had tons of information input into it -- things like passwords, affiliate logins, homeschool records, book notes, and much more. This is information that I wanted to make sure I had access to, but didn't necessarily want anyone else to have access to. I had been nervous about having it all in Evernote and it being "online".
Well, I found out the end of last year that Evernote had recently been taken over by another company that has difference standards for privacy. So I looked for another option. I found Joplin and liked what I saw. This program can be run only on my computer (not in the cloud at all) and I could also back it up to my external hard drive.
This allowed me to keep all the information I had stored already in Evernote, and transfer it over to Joplin. It is much more secure now because it is not in the "cloud" at all, only on my computer.
They also have a Daily Journal feature that makes it pretty easy to keep a journal if you are interested in that.
Sound interesting? Go to the Joplin website to get more information. I also did some searching on Youtube for Joplin tutorials and that really helped to learn how to use the program. Enjoy!
Tip: This may be a fun tool to use for homeschooling! It would be a great way to organize your homeschool records, have the kids use it to do writing projects or keep a journal, etc.!
