Hello!
This week you will notice my newsletter is coming to you a little differently and a little later than planned. My email service is having some issues and so in order to get this out to you I had to do some creative thinking! Instead of the usual way, I am sending my newsletter to you via Substack. I have actually been thinking of using Substack for my weekly newsletters anyway, so I may be moving to this possibly in the future. I love that Substack allows me to email the newsletter out to you each week AND provides an archive online so you can go back to past issues you missed or want to re-read! We’ll see how it goes.
Important Updates from Sheri
Before I move on to what I want to share with you today, I want to share a bit of my heart and where I am at. The Lord has led me this past year to be heavily involved with our state health freedom group. Because so much of my time has been poured into this fight (which is only going to increase this year as we face a possible mandated covid-19 vaccine), my time to spend on publishing new ebooks, writing blog posts, etc. has been greatly limited. There are so many projects that are being left undone right now, but I know that the Lord has me right where He wants me to be.
Due to the limited time, I am having to streamline some of what I am doing. I want to continue to offer my weekly newsletters to free subscribers, but then also offer some “extra” content for paid subscribers who want to give a little to support what I do. I love to write and encourage you and will continue to do so through my weekly newsletters which you can access for free. But if you want to go deeper, get access to some of my extra writing (like book reviews, devotional thoughts, weekly chat posts, thoughts on current events, and more), and support me as well in the process, you can upgrade to the “paid” plan by subscribing below!
Setting priorities for the New Year
As I sit here at the beginning of the New Year, I look back on 2020 and wonder where the time went, wonder what I really got done, wonder what I missed out on, what I could have done better. Are you with me?
But the one thing that keeps coming to my mind as we start his new year is that we need to remember this admonition from God’s Word:
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34
As you look to the New Year, and begin to look at your priorities, set some goals, and pray over what God wants you to focus on, I want to encourage you to take it all in baby steps. With so many uncertainties about the coming days, I think that the Lord wants us to focus on today, and not worry about tomorrow. I don’t believe this concept is telling us to not plan at all. But I do think God is telling us to not be so focused on the future that we don’t live today.
Keep that in mind as you set your goals for the New Year. Set goals that can be accomplished daily — small baby steps that will move you forward in areas of your life that God lays on your heart.
For example, let’s say one of your goals is to read your Bible daily. Instead of setting a goal to read for 30 minutes every day, scale it back and commit to one chapter a day. If you want to read more, that’s great, but you have set a goal you can easily reach and not be overwhelming.
Another example — let’s say you want to start doing some exercising. Instead of setting a goal to exercise for 45 minutes every day, maybe commit to doing 3 pushups and 10 minutes on the exercise bike daily. Or doing the plank for 1 minute daily.
I hope you get the point I am trying to make. Set small goals you can reach daily and if you end up doing more, that’s great. If not, you will still feel that you are moving forward towards your goal.
But the most important step you need to take as you set goals for the New Year, is going to the Lord in prayer, asking Him to show you areas of your life you need to work on. Then use this “baby steps” approach to start making progress with those goals.

Whew! This one got long today. Sorry about that! Before I close, I want to mention the image at the top of my newsletter. This is the posture that I want to begin this new year in — one of prayer and humility. I know the future is uncertain, but through these hard days the Lord is teaching me to more fully trust in Him. I am learning to bow before Him in prayer like never before. How about you? Have you learned to fully trust in the Lord this past year? If not, I pray this is something the Lord will teach you in the New Year!
Praying for each of you, that you are finding your rest, your hope, your strength, in Jesus alone!
Take care. Don't fear. Trust God!
Blessings,
Sheri

ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT MEDICAL FREEDOM? Our freedoms are being threatened all across this country and across the whole world. Vaccine mandate laws are being pushed through that take away the rights of parents to choose the health care of their children. If you want to research this issue, I encourage you to check out this resource page. I also want to offer you this Vaccine Hesitancy Review document (PDF file) that does a good job of summarizing the issues: Vaccine Hesitancy Review.pdf
